Stuttgart, Germany, 17-19 May 2011: Multimatic, in Cooperation with Ansible Motion, VI-grade and Concurrent Computer to Introduce VI-DriveSim Dynamic Simulator at 2011 Vehicle Dynamics Expo
Multimatic Inc. will showcase their Ansible Motion platform with VI-DriveSim real time simulation software, powered by Concurrent computers on a 90m2 stand with Ansible Motion, VI-grade and Concurrent Computer represented.

Udine, Italy, 13 November 2010: VI-grade commission first driving simulator with Ansible Motion platform
VI-grade GmbH take delivery of the first Ansible Motion 6 degree of freedom motion platform. This is designed expressly for professional driving simulation and has been installed in the new VI SimCentre located in Udine, Italy. Over the next few months the simulation centre facilities will be built up with two additional static simulators. It will act as a research centre for the development of technologies in VI-DriveSim related to human in the loop driving simulation.

Udine, Italy, 3 December 2009: VI-grade to develop VI-DriveSim together with Ansible Motion
VI-grade GmbH, maker of the VI-CarRealTime real-time dynamics simulation tool, has announced a strategic partnership with Ansible Motion, a UK-based designer and manufacturer of professional motion platforms, to develop VI-DriveSim, a driving simulator technology.

VI-DriveSim is a driving simulator characterized by what its creators claim is a revolutionary design. The simulator, which targets both racing and commercial vehicle applications, is based on a lightweight design and very efficient kinematics. With its extremely low payload platform height, the simulator is much more compact than conventional hexapod-based driving simulators and is easy to transport and install. The simulator takes advantage of the real-time vehicle simulation capabilities provided by VI-CarRealTime, and provides to the driver extremely realistic accelerations for every manoeuvre. The patent-pending simulator, currently under development, will be available in mid 2010.

“We are excited about our strategic partnership with VI-grade,” said Kia Cammaerts, technical director, Ansible Motion. “Thanks to the compact design of our hardware, characterized by high mobility, low platform mass and high acceleration-velocity-stroke capabilities, we will contribute to the development of a revolutionary driving simulator suitable for motorsport and commercial automotive applications.”

Woking, UK, 18 November 2009: New professional motion platform announced
Ansible Motion Ltd has been established to develop and manufacture state of the art motion platforms for high end professional motorsport driving simulators, aimed at driver and engineer training, and hardware-in-the-loop simulation.

The company, based in Surrey in the UK, will deliver the first machines early in the new year. The platform is based on a new and novel design which is patent pending. The motion platform design provides 6 degree of freedom and employs a compact serial-parallel kinematic design that has been designed specifically for use in high end motorsport simulators.

The design brief was to create a compact and efficient platform with the mobility and performance of a large hexapod, but occupying a much smaller work space. The result is a novel patent pending hybrid serial-parallel design which, unlike fully parallel designs, delivers full acceleration authority linearly over the whole motion range for the key motion axes. The stiff but lightweight machine structure has been designed on race car principals, resulting in low platform mass and good dynamic response. The exceptionally low overall mass and platform height means the machine can be installed in areas previously completely out of consideration. For example many standard office spaces are suitable.

The standard machine will be satisfactory for most motorsport requirements but the specification can be tailored to suit particular customer needs. In particular longitudinal motion can be made any range up to 11m long to fully explore brake onset cueing.

The graphics options available include a wrap-around screen with a 2m radius with three projectors isolated from all vertical motion. This provides an immersive visual experience for the driver, and minimises environmental interference.

The complete platform package includes high quality state of the art motion cueing software tuneable for multiple categories of race car. The package includes all the inverse kinematics and motion control required, which allows the platform to be easily integrated with an existing simulation environment.
