Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Role

We are recruiting for a senior mechanical designer to join our design team. The successful candidate will be working on cutting edge products within a growing company that has an international client base of top automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop design concepts using 2D drawings, 3D models and prototypes
  • Produce engineering drawings, specifications, BOM structures, part lists and costings
  • Managing multiple design tasks at once
  • Work closely with other disciplines manufacturing departments and suppliers

Essential

  • Mechanical Design experience – producing schematics, modelling, and detailing
  • Advanced skills in Solidworks, 3D and 2D modelling
  • Work in a fast-paced time pressured R&D environment
  • Work at short notice on changing design briefs
  • Expert level with AutoCAD
  • Ability to produce highly complex 3D modelling, including making decisions on component selection, understand scheduling and budgeting
  • Able to think on your feet and work with stakeholders to capture requirements and act accordingly
  • Able to work autonomously but give regular check-in and feedback on milestones throughout the design phase

Electrical Design Engineer

Role

We are recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our engineering group. You will be working on cutting edge products as part of an ever-expanding company and team of engineers working on electrical design, and commissioning, and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Creation of design documentation for electrical systems: specifications, cable schedules, block diagrams, Bill of Materials, cable drawings, schematic drawings
  • Electrical testing of cable systems and control panels
  • Programming and testing of servodrives
  • Functional testing/validation of safety code/system
  • Fault finding and rectification
  • Products are distributed worldwide which offers the opportunity for travel (travel not essential).

Essential

  • Experience of a variety of electrical systems – control panels, cabling systems, drives (ideally servodrives)
  • Electrical Testing and fault-finding experience
  • Electrical design experience
  • Relevant BTEC, HNC or similar qualification
  • Able to work within a team on large projects

Desirable

  • 17th or 18th edition wiring regulations qualified
  • Experience with CAN bus systems
  • Experience with Safety systems (Pilz, Beckhoff)
  • AutoCAD

Applications Engineer

Role

As an Applications Engineer you will be pivotal in bringing together sub-systems (computer, vision, audio, motion, and driver) used in the Ansible Motion Limited (AML) Driver-In-Loop (DIL) simulator. You will also be integral to the assembly, commissioning, testing, and servicing of the systems on-site. 

Responsibilities

  • Work on cutting-edge computer and graphical systems on a world leading, award-winning, automotive simulator
  • Contribute to the design and improvement of all AML sub-systems
  • Test and approve new equipment and components in our systems
  • Build and integrate cutting-edge IT equipment including PC components, networking equipment, racks, and cabling
  • Implement multiple projectors, cinema-grade AML vision systems
  • Implement professional-quality AML audio systems
  • Quality-check and approve an AML DIL system before release to customer
  • Operate and maintain the R&D simulator on-site
  • Provide customer support for after sales
  • This opportunity has the possibility of travelling to customer installations to commission, test, and service our systems on-site with the customer

Essential

  • Be a fast and critical thinker, motivated by finding solution to problems in a variety of engineering areas
  • An ability to multi-task and prioritise work naturally and be well organised
  • Good attention to detail
  • Communicate clearly and concisely
  • Experience in building PC systems for at high standards in a methodical and repeatable manner
  • Experience of software and firmware configuration
  • Excellent collaboration skills to work with a team covering all aspects of engineering for an automotive simulator including design, mechanical, applications and electrical engineers
